Reduce worst forms of child labour and improve child protection systems.
SRI addresses the prevalence of hazardous child labour in cocoa and artisanal mining communities through an integrated protection approach. The model combines community-based monitoring, value chain engagement, and education retention strategies to identify children at risk and provide targeted remediation support.
A central component is the establishment of Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems (CLMRS) in target communities. These systems enable early identification of child labour cases, coordinated response mechanisms, and collaboration with local authorities and producer groups. The model also strengthens community child protection committees and supports school retention strategies to ensure that vulnerable children remain in education and protected from exploitation.
